We are so grateful to the Avett Brothers and Cheerwine for including us in this year's Legendary Giveback Benefit Concert on Saturday in Salisbury, Maryland.

It was a blast and a huge success because of a community of great folks at Cheerwine, the Avett Brothers, and their staff.
Music Has No Borders

"Thank you for your generous and thoughtful contribution to Building a Bridge to Uganda’s Sea Container Project! After several months of travel across the Atlantic and Indian Ocean, the sea container finally arrived at Pope John Paul II High School in a remote village in the heart of Uganda.

The musical instruments you donated are going to have a tremendous impact on the lives of our students, many of whom have a natural passion and inclination for music.

It’s possible that one of the guitars, trumpets, or flutes could inspire a student to pursue a career as a musician!"

One Instrument at a Time...
Congratulations to Cameron Fowler of Jackson County, NC Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) for winning a Taylor guitar. Shown below in his application photo, he is in 4th grade and came highly recommended by his teacher and program leaders as a motivated learner.
Dear Hungry for Music Supporter,
This year has been one of partnerships and growth for Hungry for Music. In 2016, our twenty-second year of providing music instruments for underserved children, we have already broken our monthly and annual records for instrument donations.

2016 Milestones:
  • In August, we distributed over 200 instruments, more than doubling our previous monthly donation output.
  • We have donated nearly 700 instruments so far this year, eclipsing the previous yearly output of 550 instruments.
  • We donated to more than three dozen new school and after-school programs, while continuing to support our ongoing clients.
Next year, Hungry for Music will reach 10,000 music instruments donated (many more thousands impacted). This is a proud landmark for us as we continue to bring the gift of music to those individuals and programs in need. We could not provide this service for children if it wasn't for the support we receive from you.

The demand for instruments is increasing and we need funds to help cover the growing costs of repair, shipment, and delivery. We need your help. We would appreciate any support you can give us as our outreach continues to grow.
Please think of Hungry for Music in your annual giving.

We couldn't do what we do without the support of folks like you!
Kudos, Jillian!

Dongola Marches On

We applaud music teacher Rebecca Gray at Dongola High School in Illinois, who helped revive the school marching band. Above, Carmin (clarinet) and Mackenna (flute) are two of the recent recipients of Hungry for Music's instrument donation program. We have supported Rebecca's vision for her marching band for the past two years. Keep up the great work!

HFM Throwback
Above, Simachew Dagnew, playing a HfM donated guitar at the Miracle Art
Center in Gondar, Ethiopia. We donated the guitar (and other instruments) through Montgomery County Sister Cities program. We appreciate the County's support.

The Center's Director, Mengistu Engidayehu says "Simachew has the dream to play the electric guitar and sing like Bob Marley."
Hungry for Music is able to make music instrument donations to other countries because of organizations in the States, such as churches, universities, and businesses who have outreach programs. We have donated to

In the Spotlight
Walt Fales
Walt "the Band Man" Fales has been a volunteer and supporter for almost 20
years, promoting Hungry for Music from the stage at the Night of 100 Elvises and also being a huge help picking up instruments in the Maryland area, and delivering them to our HFM warehouse in Virginia, by the truckload. An irreplaceable asset to our organization, his belief in and enthusiasm for the Hungry for Music vision has lifted me up many times and I am deeply grateful.
Right now, Walt is battling the biggest challenge of his life and facing it with an incredible positive spirit. Please consider supporting him in this challenging time.

Pay it forward!

Thank you!

Jeff Campbell,
Founder/Director, Hungry for Music.
Since becoming a non-profit 22 years ago, Hungry for Music has brought the healing quality of music to more than 9,000 children in 47 states and 17 countries through its musical instrument donation program.
